Visual Studio 2010 Vertical Line Guides

This Visual Studio extension assists you with creating vertical line guides in your IDE editor.  The typical registry hack that worked in old versions of Visual Studio didn’t work for me until I installed this extension.  Then it automatically recognized the registry hack I created.  This extension allows you to create guides by right clicking in the editor window and selecting “Add guideline” so you no longer have to manually edit the registry to add or remove guides.

Ben March is a Ninja – SEO Journal

By Ben  //  Gibberish, Ninja, SEO  //  No Comments

I added a page to my personal website outlining my strategy to get my website ranked in the top 100 google results for the keyword ninja.  I’m hoping to get my site ranked in the top 100 in the next couple months.  I’ll try to keep it updated on a daily/weekly basis with all of the strategies I’m employing to get my site ranked high.

Ninja Fever Strikes!

By Ben  //  Ninja  //  No Comments

I did not create this sticker but it seemed appropriate to share given my current Ben March is a Ninja challenge.  Apparently there is at least one other aspiring ninja named Ben in the world.  Check out this “My name is Ben and I am a Ninja” bumper sticker.  What are the odds.

Ninja vs Ninja vs Ninja

There are currently three people participating in the SEO competition to get their site ranked number one for THE GREAT NINJA COMPETITION.  One of my competitors is already in the top ten results when I search for “Ninja Ben March”.  At first I was majorly concerned about this, but then I remembered – A good ninja keeps his friends close and his enemies closer.  Game on noble ninjas.  I’m about to flex my nerd on these bit flippers.

Motorola Droid Phone and USB Drivers and Windows 7 x64 Oh My!

By Ben  //  Uncategorized  //  1 Comment

Getting my Motorola Droid phone to be recognized with the USB drivers on my Windows 7 x64 system seemed to be a lot more work than you would think it should be.  Following the standard USB driver installation instructions did not work for me.  I had to manually configure the drivers to work with my device by following these steps.

1) Download the Android SDK which includes the USB drivers for windows here.

2) Open the Control Panel on my computer.  Under Hardware and Sound select “View devices and printers”.

3) There was a Motorla device that had problems with the drivers.  Right click and View Properties.

4) Click the Hardware tab and click the Properties button.

5) Click the Change settings button on the General tab.

6) Click the driver tab and click the Update Driver button…

7) Choose the option to “Browse my computer for driver software”

8) Navigate to the USB Drivers folder.  For me it was [SDK Install Location]\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver.  Click Next.  The driver should be updated now and your device should be usable for deployment!

benmarch10 on youtube

By Ben  //  Screencasts  //  No Comments

I’m currently setting up a youtube account so I can start sharing screencasts.  I’ve also downloaded CamStudio and played around with it a bit.  I created a screencast to help out a coworker with using DLookup in MS Access to get values to cascade into a table based on a drop down list selection.  Sweet Action.  I’ll try to post it as soon as I figure out how :)
